Bhubaneswar, 5th Jan, 15: Odisha Government has announced a host of welfare measures for Puri temple Sevayats on Monday, which were long standing demands from the later, an official release said.

\r\n

A model public school will be set up at Puri in around 10 acres of land identified at Matitota, to provide free education to the childrens of Sevayats. Besides the regular curriculum, courses on Vedic education will also be provided.

\r\n

The students of Sevayat community will be provided scholarship ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 500 per month from class I to X. For students pursuing technical education a sum of Rs 25,000 will be given as scholarship, the release said.

\r\n

Besides Insurance cover up to Rs 2 lakh for Sevayat families, low-cost houses for landless and homestead less Sevayats (5 acres of land identified) has been proposed by the Government.

\r\n

In a first-of-its kind initiative, the government has planned to introduce Battery-run environment friendly cars to ferry old age and disabled persons from the vehicle parking space to the Jagannath temple at regular intervals, according to the release.
