Bhubaneswar, 19/01/15: The 75th Session of (Platinum Jubilee) Indian Road Congress [IRC] was inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattanai here on Monday.

In his inaugural speech Naveen said, “IRC should utilize the industrial wastes, like Fly ash, slag and also plastic waste for road construction. He mooted introduction of new technology in road construction sector. Govt. of Odisha spends nearly 25% of its budget which implies prioritizing of infrastructure development in road sector in the state. It is clearly visible from the Biju Express Way project having a dedicated fund allocation of Rs 3200 Core.”

It is to be noted that, the Biju Express Way project is the road connectivity project to major cities of Odisha with the developed urban areas of the country like, the Vijayawada-Ranchi corridor, which is connectivity between Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

“More over the State Highway Development Programme [SHDP] is having a major aim for improving all State Highway up to two-lane standard. Besides, the newly launched Mukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana (MMSY) will take care of the roads connectivity to all un-connected rural areas,” the CM addressed to delegates on the occasion.

Rural Development Minister Badri Narayan Patra, Chief Secretary Gokul Ch Pati, Secretary, Works Department, along with other dignitaries were also present.
