Cuttack: In a bid to give facelift to the much-touted Aahaar scheme of the Odisha Government, a tri-partite agreement was signed between Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and Touch Stone Foundation (an associateof Akshya Patra Foundation) on Monday here.

Meals @ Rs 5/- shall be provided to the poor proposed to be implemented from April’1 at different locations in Cuttack; like Badambadi bus-stand, Sisu bhawan Chhak, Mal Godam, and SCB Medical square. Around 4000 people will get the subsidised food every day, the subsidy [@Rs 15/-] to be borne by OMC from its CSR fund as per the MOU signed here.

OMC will spend a sum of Rs 54.60 lacs during the initial three months of the scheme implementation, besides additional Rs 64 lacs towards food transportation, distribution including other related expenses.

\r\n

The Odisha Govt has also mooted a proposal to finance the subsidised food scheme for the poor through Corporates like Tata, Nalco and RSP in subsequent phases.
