Bhubaneswar, 11th Jan 2017: The State Works department has set a target to achieve plan expenditure [PE] up to a scale of Rs. 3757 Crore, surpassing the previous year PE of Rs.1426 cr, according to a Government press release. This fiscal year, the department has achieved more than 72% utilization in State Plan projects by end of December, 2017.

In a review meeting held on Wednesday, the Chief Secretary directed the engineers to keep up the construction activities through innovative projects for providing a boost to economic activities particularly in rural areas. Sri Padhi also directed to promote local entrepreneurship through popularization of pre-fab and fly ash construction materials. He also advised to achieve 100% of the budget utilization by end of the current financial year 2015-16.

The Chief Secretary further directed the department to scale up the field activities and complete Trisulia Bridge connecting the twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar within coming 2 months and the Gupupriya Setu by end of September, 2017, Sambalpur-Rourkela road by end of March, and Bridge over the river Ib by end of June this year. Target was set to complete the construction of 4 medical college buildings at Bolangir, Balasore, Koraput and Baripada by end of June, 2017, and a slew of other projects in the pipeline on fast-track basis.
