Bhubaneswar, 28th Aug 2017 : Odisha Government has enhanced number of approved medicines under the Niramaya  yojna to 558 from the earlier 499 types of medicines approved in the year 2016-17.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed to ensure adequate supply of the medicines at hospitals stores without fail in a review meeting held at Odisha State Medical Corporation on Monday. Padhi also directed to keep track whether the medicines are actually being prescribed and issued to the patients. He made it categorically clear that there should never be a ‘stock out position’ for 117 types of fast moving and more demanded medicines.

Participating in discussion, Development Commissioner Sri R.Balakrishnan advised to have a dedicated team for interaction with patients at ground zero level for assessing their requirements and satisfaction heights.

Chief Secretary Sri Padhi directed Secretary Health and Family Welfare Sri Pramod Meherda  present in the meeting to keep track whether the medicines supplied were being prescribed by the doctors and were actually being  distributed  to the patients through close supervision and monitoring.

The Managing Director OSMC Sri Rabindra Pratap Singh said, “a consumption based supply system of medicines have been adopted by the Corporation. The indents for the medicines are being received through online software and the supply position is also being reflected in the same online system.
