Bhubaneswar, 29 Nov: Odisha witnessed 2296 dengue cases till October end in 2019, out of a total 91457 cases reported in India, an official statement showed.

Dengue epidemic has become an annual affair causing lot of health issues including death of patients in the country. While among all the States & Union Territories, Karnataka tops the chart with 14,139 cases, Odisha is not an exception with 2296 dengue incidents reported. However, no deaths occurred out of this non-communicable disease in the State so far till October end, the release said.

“Government of India shared the National guidelines on Dengue case management with the States for wider dissemination to avert deaths. The guidelines are also uploaded on National vector Borne Diseases control programme (NvBDcp) website (www.nvbdcp.gov.in).  In 2019 (till date) Government of India issued fourteen Advisories to States/UTs for prevention, control of Dengue and case management”, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family welfare Ashwini kumar choubey said in reply to a question in the on-going winter session of Parliament on Friday.

“Financial assistance is provided to States for prevention and control of vector borne diseases in an integrated manner including Dengue”, the Minister replied.

Budget Allocation under NVBDCP (2019-20) for Odisha has been provided to the tune of Rs 878.75 lakhs, out of total budget allocation of Rs 45,521 lakhs made during the current financial year till October, according to the official release.
