New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Dt. 08.08.2020 – Girish Chandra Murmu, a resident of Mayurbhanj district of Odisha has taken over as fourteenth Comptroller and Auditor General of India. Today President His excellency Ram Nath Kovind administered oath of office and secrecy to Shri Murmu in a simple ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan maintaining social distance. A 1985 Batch IAS officer of Gujarat Cadre, Shri Murmu recently resigned from the office of First Lieutenant Governor of newly created union territory Jammu and Kashmir. Born on 21st November 1959, 61 years old Shri Murmu was the principal Secretary to Narendra Modi during his last term as CM of Gujarat before becoming Prime Minister of India in 2014. Chairman of Vande Utkal Foundation and Senior Journalist Kishore Dwibedi extends hearty congratulations to Shri Murmu for becoming the first odia to assume this Prestigious Constitutional position of the country. In a statement, Shri Dwibedi said that the entire odia diaspora across the Globe are feeling proud for Shri Murmu’s elevation. Shri Dwibedi wishes him all the best in his new Office and expresses hope that Shri Murmu will definitely come out with flying colours in his present assignment.
