Bhubaneswar: For survival of the weaving communities in Odisha, National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), State Handloom Directorate has identified 43 mini handloom clusters, where NHDC is supporting these clusters by supplying their desired varieties of yarn with utilising yarn corpus fund of Rs 3 lakh funded by Government of India and Rs 7 lakh funded by Government of Odisha, said Sri Debendra Prasad Das, Director of Textiles & Handlooms said, while inaugurating a Buyer-Seller Meet at National Handloom Expo premises at IDCO Exhibition Ground.

The buyer-seller meet was organised by NHDC in association with Boyanika.

\r\n

It s to be noted that, the weaving community in the state is facing problems and difficulties in getting quality and different varieties of yarn, dyes and chemicals for their end products to challenge the domestic and global players.

\r\n

Sri S. Bandopadhyaya, Regional Manager, NHDC, Sri S.K Patra, Deputy Director, Weavers Service Centre, Dasarathi Nanda, Dy Director Textiles, Sri Bibhu Prasad Sarangi, MD, Boyanika also spoke on the occasion.

Buyers, sellers, vendors, representatives of raw material Banks, Cluster Development Executives, Dyes Manufacturers and Secretary of different weavers co-operative societies attended and participated in the interactive session.
