Bhubaneswar: Mega Food Park at Rayagada has been grounded with laying of infrastructure and raising of factory & MSME sheds.

The food park has been planned with the objective of boosting up food processing and ensuring value addition to agri-products in the State. A Special Purpose vehicle has been formed under the name MITS Mega Food Park Ltd with IDCO, BCT, Kevenetor Agro and Expo Biotech as partners. The Park is being developed over 50 acers of land with approved cost of Rs.80.17 crs. The major components of the project include core processing facilities, factory building & MS&ME sheds, modern paddy processing complex, pack house complex, cold storages, dry warehouse complex, quality facilitation lab and food incubation center and multi fruit processing complex.

Chief Secretary Gokul Ch Pati during a review meeting on Saturday has asked the project developers to submit a road map for completion and commissioning of the project. He also directed project developers to install rain water harvesting structures and be self sufficient in water management without using the ground water. They have been asked to put in place the systems of waste management and affluent treatment.

\r\n

So far 4 factory and MSME sheds have been brought up to lintel level and work in others hare on full swing. Target has been set to complete all sheds by end of March, 2015. The construction of modern dry warehouse of 10,000 MT capacity has made good progress and the work is expected to be completed by May,2015. Similarly, in modern paddy complex, raising of foundation has been completed for all 93 mills. The milling area and husk yard area have already been developed. The boundary wall of 495 mts have already been completed and temporary site office has been set up. The SPV has made tie up with end users like Rowan Mills Pvt ltd and Excel Beverages. The vendors from various sectors like Civil construction, PEB, Milling Technology, Fabrication, Parboiling and Boiler etc have been involved in construction of various segments of the Park.

The Development Commissioner Sri U.N. Behera, CMD IDCO Sri Vishal Dev along with other senior officers from concerned departments and the project developers participated in the discussions.
