Bhubaneswar, 27th Feb 2016: Odisha Government has chalked out projects worth Rs 720 crore (appx.), to be executed by the newly formed Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC), decided in its BoD meeting on Saturday.

The projects were submitted by the Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Forest & Environment department, Govt of Odisha. As of now, 523 villages of 29 blocks in 8 districts like Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Koraput Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh have been identified as mining affected villages, where the peripheral development work has to be made, an official release of the Govt said.

“About 50% of NPV collected from the mining leases would be utilized through OMBADC for basic developmental activities in the identified villages”, General Manager ( Operations) of the Corporation and Additional PCCF Subash Chandra Swain said.

\r\n

The State Govt had provided Rs.1 lakh as initial share capital for formation of the Corporation. So far, Rs.869.42 crore has been received by the Corporation. It was decided in the BOD that, the interest earned from the deposit of this corpus amount would be added with the corpus and would be utilized for the above purpose.
